vs CBS Sports Pro Football Pick'em

CBS Pick'em Was Fine in 2008.
It's 2025.

Flat 1-point scoring with no confidence. Spreads CBS controls with no transparency. A system built for CBS's nationwide contest, not your private league. Your crew deserves better — and it's free.

What CBS Gets Wrong

These aren't opinions. They're the reasons your league group chat complains every week.

One Point Per Pick Is Not a Strategy. It's a Coin Flip.

CBS Pick'em awards exactly 1 point for every correct pick, no matter how obvious or how much of a gamble. Miss a lock, nail a steal — it evens out over the season. There's no mechanism to separate the players who actually study the lines from the ones picking based on favorite teams. thepickempool uses confidence scoring: assign each game a number from 1 to 16. Your locks get 16. Your coin flips get 1. Every week has 16 picks worth a combined 136 points — the sharp players and the fish sort themselves out fast.

CBS is one of the few if not the only platform that still charges for fantasy leagues.

CBS Sets the Spreads. You Don't Know How, When, or Why.

CBS's official rules state that spreads are set "at the sponsor's sole discretion" with no information on sourcing, timing, or update frequency. You're picking against a number CBS decided — not the actual betting market. This isn't a small detail. A spread that's even half a point off market can systematically favor underdogs or favorites week after week. thepickempool pulls every line directly from The Odds API, sourcing from DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM. You see the market. You pick against the market.

I must say the new revamp of the CBS Sports Pools and Pool Manager tools is terrible. Took away necessary manager options. Can't even remove players who don't pay from the pool without needing to delete all pool members picks?

Removing One Non-Payer Deletes the Whole League's Picks

This is not a hypothetical. CBS's 2024 redesign introduced a bug — or feature, depending on how you look at it — where removing a non-paying member from your pool deletes every other member's picks along with them. Entire leagues lost weeks of data. Commissioners were left with nothing. thepickempool is built for commissioners. Remove a member, change a setting, edit anything — it affects only what you intend to affect. Individual picks are always preserved.

Can't even remove players who don't pay from the pool without needing to delete all pool members picks? The new site has lost so much functionality. CBS is so bad now.

The Grid: See Everyone's Picks the Moment Games Kick Off

CBS has no equivalent to The Grid. Once games kick off on thepickempool, The Grid unlocks — a full matrix showing every player's pick and confidence for every game that week. Watch the leaderboard shift in real time as Sunday unfolds. See who needs what in the late games. Know where you stand before Monday night. It turns watching NFL Sunday from a solo activity into a live competition with your whole group.
